Councilman Lequin Hilderbrand, at the special called meeting last week, you amended Angel McCroskey’s motion for outside legal counsel regarding the situation at JEDCO. Your amendment was to get proposals from 2-3 firms outside of the city. Great posturing, but I have to ask — why does the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting include “consultation WITH attorney; legal discussions WITH legal counsel regarding City Council – JEDCO matters” under closed executive session?
Did you blindly choose counsel? How do we have legal counsel without the proposals? I know it has nothing to do with the city’s own counsel, Mr. Ratcliff, as he recused himself from the conversation.
This isn’t just procedural confusion — this is a serious concern for the integrity and transparency of our council’s actions. Our community deserves answers, not backroom decisions that sidestep the process.
Mr. Hilderbrand, what say you?
